Rochester - Walter E. Blackadar, 90, passed away surrounded by his loving family Tuesday May 24, 2011 at Frisbie Memorial Hospital following a period of failing health. Born January 1, 1921 in Somerville, MA he was the son of the late Frederick and Ina (Wagner) Blackadar. Mr. Blackadar served in the US Navy during WWII and worked 37 years as a planner for the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Rochester, the Kiwanis, and the Rochester Country Club. Walter enjoyed playing golf, farming, and particularly time with his family. Members of his family include his children John Blackadar and wife Rita of Bow, NH; Susan Parsell and husband Randall of Rochester, NH; Sharon Parker and husband Richard of Rochester, NH; Paul Blackadar and wife Ann of Rochester, NH; and James Blackadar of Boston, MA; his grandchildren John, Jr., Heather, Emily, Sherry, Lisa, Christopher, Patrick, Kimberly, Michelle, Jessica, Adam, and Sara, eleven great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife of 62 years Rachel (Roberts) Blackadar in 2007, three brothers, four sisters, and one great grandson. Family and friends may visit Thursday May 26, 2011 from 6-8 PM at the R.M. Edgerly and Son Funeral Home, 86 S. Main St. Rochester, NH. A funeral service will be held Friday at 11AM at the First United Methodist Church of Rochester. 34 S. Main St. Rochester, NH.
