Rochester, NH – Walter E. Winship Jr., 82, passed away peacefully on March 3, 2026, at his home.

Walter was born on January 12, 1944, in Eliot, Maine, the son of Irene Bishop and Walter E.

Winship Sr. He was raised in Eliot and graduated from Eliot High School in 1963. Following high school, he entered the automotive field, developing mechanical skills that would guide his lifelong career. He later enlisted in the United States Navy in 1965 and proudly served his

country.

While in the Navy, Walter was stationed in Iceland for one year, where he further developed his skills in aviation engine repair.

Walter worked as a Machinist at Moore Business Forms for many years.

Walter enjoyed motorcycle rides with his fiancée. He also had a passion for antique cars and was a member of the Pine Tree Model A Ford Club, as well as a longtime member of the Shapleigh Monday Nighters.

Walter was predeceased by his daughter, Traci Winship; his parents; and his fiancée, Donna Stevens.

He is survived by his daughter, Tina Stuart and her husband Carl Stuart; his son, Fred Fournier; and his daughter, Donnette Fournier. He is also survived by his brother, Roger Winship; his

sister, Cathy Stacy and her husband Bob Stacy; along with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Walter will be remembered for his love of motorcycles and classic cars, and for the many memories he shared with those close to him.

Services will be held at The Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen, NH. On March 26th, 2026, at 11 am.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Meals on Wheels or the New Hampshire Veterans Association in Walter’s name.
