William Irving Emerson

South Berwick, Maine - William (Willie) Irving Emerson Sr., 78, died Monday, October 22, 2018, at The Newton Center in Sanford, Maine, following a short battle with brain cancer, Glioblastoma. He was born in Rochester, NH on September 9, 1940. He was the son of Irving Cecil Emerson and Vivian (Hatch) Emerson, of Rochester. He graduated from Spaulding High School in 1958. He was self employed doing home improvements for most of his adult life. He enjoyed driving the back roads, stopping at any flea markets and antique tractor shows that he could find along the way. Willie was married to Sally Lee (Hogan) Emerson of Farmington, for 40 years. She passed away in 2002.His family includes: Wayne Emerson and wife Leonie, Roxanne (Emerson) Benoit and husband Bob Benoit, William (Bill) Emerson Jr. and Cindy Emerson. His siblings include: Robert Emerson (deceased) Carlton Emerson, Gerald Emerson and Diane Walbridge.He also leaves 7 grandchildren: Andrew Emerson, Ashley (Benoit) Minnon, Jeremy Benoit, William (Bill) Emerson III, Tyler Emerson, JT Harmon and Chad Harmon. He enjoyed his two great granddaughters, Audrey Minnon and Maddison Blanchette, along with many nieces and nephews. Also, a very special member of his family is sister in law, Shirley Emerson.Willie was a fun, kind and loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and a friend to many. He will be greatly missed.SERVICES: Calling hours will be on Saturday, October 27,9:00 - 11:00 A.M.  A Celebration of Life will follow at  11:00 am.
