William Joseph "Joe" Stanton

January 7, 1963 — April 23, 2022

LEBANON MAINE - formerly of Middleton MA and Newton NH - William Joseph Stanton passed in peace and comfort into the arms of our merciful Creator on Saturday, April 23, 2022 surrounded by his immediate family. Joe was born in Danvers MA on January 7, 1963 to Michael J Stanton and Phyllis M (Dorey). He was raised in Middleton MA, by his mother, beloved and watched over by his maternal Grandmother Mary Dorey (Jenison), and was a member of the Middleton Congregational Church where he met and married the love of his life, Janice (Ware). Together Joe and Janice raised their son John Stanton (of Kingston NH) and their daughter Kathleen (of Salem NH). Joe is predeceased by his Mother and Father, and his brother Michael J. Stanton III, as well as his Nephew Brian Ware and Very Special Mother in Law Tynee Ware (Rubchinuk). The Stanton family moved to Newton NH where they built a home together, and operated a construction business, specializing in masonry, landscape and site work. Joe was active in the community and enjoyed country music, dancing, singing and always helping others when they were in need. Joe loved fishing, and there was nowhere he was happier than out on the water fishing with his son and older brothers. Other hobbies included woodworking, going to car shows and being a proud member of the East Coast Antique Tractor Club with his son John. Joe enjoyed horseback riding and playing softball and made special time with his daughter for those activities, he loved animals, and doted on his dogs, Molly, Ruby, Dottie and Lily. Joe also enjoyed a very special bond with his Nephew Kyle Ware, who was an attentive student and hard worker of the family business. The center of the Stanton family home was the kitchen where many family and friends gathered. So many laughs and good times remembered, especially with John Harlow and John Hersey. Joe's pride was hosting Thanksgiving Dinners for friends and family, fussing over the meal to be sure it was prepared the way that his mother and grandmother had taught him. A great presence in Joe's life were his Uncles, John "Jack" Dorey and George Ayoob. Together, his Uncles taught him his trades, gave him advice and nurtured Joe's huge heart and love for community. One of his most special relationships was with his Father in Law Earl Ware, who always was ready and willing to offer help and great advice. In his later life, Joe moved to Lebanon Maine where he was loved and cared for by his cousin, Deborah, and his best friend Gary Patch Sr, Cornerstone VNA (Rochester NH) and Hospice nurses (Aimee), LNA (Jamie), and all the staff at Wentworth Douglass Hospital in Dover NH, and Frisbie Hospital in Rochester NH. Joe's family are very grateful for the care and attention of Chief Kurk Flynn and all the responders of Lebanon ME Fire and EMS who tended to him with gentle kindness and professionalism. Joe loved the view from his second floor bedroom windows in Lebanon, overlooking the property, the pond, the woods and watching the horses, goats, wild deer, turkey, fox, and the occasional bear or moose. Joe loved the community events and music at Minor's Diner, and leaves behind a special friend in Melissa Warren, the owner, who would prepare special low salt meals for him to enjoy. Many of the homeless population of Rochester NH are also missing Joe tonight, as he was generous in providing them with meals, rides, conversations and sharing his most caring heart. Most of all, above and beyond all expectation, Joe's daughter Katie was always a comforter and caregiver for her father, he was so proud of her efforts and advocacy on his behalf. Family and Friends can never say enough about Katie's efforts and love for her father.
