ROCHESTER ; William L. Wood, 77, died Saturday, Dec. 20, 2008, at the Frisbie Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.Born May 9, 1931, in Presque Isle, Maine, he was the son of the late Rubin and Gertrude (Day) Wood.Mr. Wood lived in Rochester since 1967 after retiring from the military, which brought him to many places around the world. He is a 20-year retiree from the U.S. Navy where he worked as a chief aviation storekeeper. After retirement, he began working as a salesman for Sears and retired after 23 years. He was a member of the Rochester Elks Lodge # 1393, Milton American Legion, Cocheco Valley Sportsmen Club and the" Hunters 8." He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing Monday night cards and visiting Foxwoods. He especially loved spending time with his family and grandchildren.Survivors include: his wife of 58 years, Betty Ann (Gowen) Wood of Rochester; his children, Bruce Wood and fiance Beth of Farmington, Beckey and her husband Gary Parker of Rochester, Barry and wife Michelle Wood of Milton,...
